News Round Up

Morecambe have released defender Darren Moss by mutual consent. The former Shrewsbury and Crewe man, who cost the Railwaymen £170,000, was a regular in the first month of the season but has not played since. His contract was due to run until the summer. Darlington have former Newcastle winger Keith Gillespie training with the club. The 35 year old has been playing in the Irish Premier League.

Cheltenham have extended the loan of youngster Marley Watkins to Bath for a further two months. Port Vale are under investigation for fielding an understrength side in the Johnstone Paint Trophy loss at Carlisle. Valiant chairman Bill Bratt says boss Micky Adams has money available for two loan signings if needed.

Lincoln assistant boss Paul Brush says that the players the club can afford to bring in are not up to a League Two dogfight. Crawley are attempting to sign former Arsenal midfielder Robert Pires. The 36 year old World Cup winner is looking for an English club. Burton's groundsman has been named groundsman of the year by the industry body.

Aldershot have extended the loan of ex-Bull Marlon Jackson for a second month. The Bristol City youngster had only started two games in his first month. Torquay have extended the contract of teenager Lloyd Macklin for two more years. He signed in the summer from Swindon.

Gillingham have denied receiving interest from Reading for teenager Jack Payne. The 18 year old has been a regular feature for the Gills defence this season.
