Bulls showed real commitment says Adams

Port Vale manager Micky Adams heaped praise on Hereford United in comments he gave to their OS after yesterday's game at Edgar Street.

"I thought that Hereford deserved something from the game," said Adams.

"They out-battled us, especially in the first 20 minutes and they got after us. They showed a real commitment to the cause. Sadly, for us, that first-half performance wasn't acceptable. The first thing you have got to do is match the opposition, who have raised your game because you are the league leaders, in terms of effort and endeavour. If you don't get that, you have no chance."

Adams thought the Vale penalty was justified.

"I was in a poor position to see it but my subs were warming up and they said that Justin was just about to put the ball in the back of the net when the fella bought him down. I don't think there was any doubt about that one.

"In the end, we were lucky because our 'keeper kept us in the game with two great saves.

"Fair credit to Hereford, but when you are playing a bottom of the table side and they are down to ten men, you should win the game - whoever you are."
