Bradford expected to Sack Taylor

Hereford United's Simon Davey isn't the only manager expected to be sacked in the next day or two. Peter Taylor, currently in charge at Bradford, is unlikely to stay at Valley Parade much longer.

Bradford are just above the Bulls at the bottom of League Two. Supporters don't have to have very long memories to recall the days they were in the equivalent of the Premiership, so their demise must come as a real shock.

Taylor has managed at a higher level than Simon Davey. He was guiding Leicester some ten years ago when the Foxes were top of the Premiership. This morning Taylor (23nd) and Davey (24th) prop up League Two.

The Bradford Telegraph and Argus made this comment about Taylor.

It’s tough for him and impossible for the supporters, who once again vented their feelings at another unacceptable performance. The natives have had enough.

Taylor will continue scratching around for solutions but seems no nearer finding a team he can have genuine faith in delivering more than one good game in five.

He will once again scour for a loan striker this week; somebody capable of actually scoring a goal or two to lift some of the all-pervading gloom.

But then, any striker needs a supply of ammunition and there has been precious little of that.

Move over to the Guardian. They comment about the plight of managers at this level.

Teams at this level are a mix of older hands trying to slow the down escalator and young ones trying to run up the other. The manager's task is to find the chemistry and luck to give them belief and get the best out of them. Individual skills are abundant, cash is not.

They also note the sacking of the Leicester manager last week.

No doubt he was thinking of Leicester or possibly Graham Turner, who returned last March to add to his 723 games in charge and won seven of the last 10. Turner is now at Shrewsbury but Davey is entitled to unease. Soccerbase has not yet recognised his appointment in June.
