Hereford United captain Janos Kovacs is to have an operation on his knee and could be out for up to eight weeks.
Kovacs had a scan yesterday and is set to have the operation tomorrow to help repair 'torn medial ligaments'.
"It’s a big blow," manager Simon Davey told the Worcester News.
"We have lost two central defenders from the start of the season but we have to grin and bear it, get on with it and use other players."
Davey also hinted he hoped to have one new signing before Saturday.
