Crewe's very experienced manager Dario Gradi has heaped praise on Simon Davey who will be in charge of Hereford United for the first time in a League match on Saturday.
"There are a number of good young managers coming into the game looking to play football and that is only good for the game," Gradi told the Crewe OS.
"Simon is in that category and I think it will be a good football game on Saturday. The league is a lot stronger now than it once was and it is difficult to say who will do well and who won't.
"Hereford have had an influx of new players and their resources are not better than ours. I don't know if they are going to be up there with the frontrunners. There wasn't evidence of that last season, but then there wasn't from us either.
"We will look at Hereford but we want to do to what we do. I want the players to concentrate on their own game and defend like they have been doing in pre-season."
