One of the more surprising venues for a Hereford United pre-season friendly is the Gnoll, the home of Neath Rugby Club.
However since July 2008 it has also been the home of Neath Football Club.
Nevertheless it will be the first time the Bulls have played at a 'rugby stadium' in Wales in recent times although in the League games are played at both Adams Park and Edgeley Park, the homes of both the Sale Sharks and Stockport County and the Wasps and Wycombe Wanderers respectively.
The connection between Neath and Hereford United isn't immediately obvious. Whilst the Bulls have played at both Aberystwyth and Caersws pre-season, both friendlies have been after player interest.
Rhodri Giggs, brother of Ryan of Manchester United fame, used to play for Aberystwyth and had a trial with the Bulls and Graham Evans was a Caersws player before moving to Edgar Street.
But there is no such connection with Neath.
However Neath manager Andrew Dyer is UK head of Italy based Macron football kits and has business contacts in Herefordshire. The friendly was arranged after 'discussions'.
And since the friendly was confirmed, Simon Davey has been appointed Hereford United manager. Davey played junior football around Swansea and knows several of the Neath 'staff'.
The friendly is due to take place on Saturday July 31st with a 12 mid-day kick-off.
