Southend have sacked manager Steve Tilson, or at least put him 'on gardening leave'.
A club statement says a press conference will happen tomorrow to name a new manager and that Tilson, who had been in charge for nearly seven years, would see out the remaining year of his contract on gardening leave.
He has been at the club as player, coach, and manager for 18 of the last 22 years, originally taking them from the verge of relegation in 2003 to the Conference to a Championship club but, as the money run out, the club fell back down the divisions.
The club have just ten players listed on their official site, but three of those are understood to be wanting to leave. They have two winding up orders to face over the next two weeks, and have a transfer embargo due to an unpaid loan from the PFA.
