Windass goes for Shrewsbury Manager's Job

Another well known name has thrown his CV into the hat to become the new manager of Shrewsbury Town.

Former Hull striker Dean Windass, now working part-time for Sky, was seen at Shrewsbury's home game last Saturday. He, reportedly, said he would be sending in an application for the job previously held by Paul Simpson.

Windass joins Paul Surrock as the two main candidiates. Other names mentioned include Mark Venus, Jim Gannon and Jimmy Quinn.

There is also some speculation that Hereford United manager Graham Turner might like a return to Shrewsbury. One source suggested that it might be no co-incidence that Turner's announcement he wanted to sell his shares in Hereford came a week or so before Simpson was sacked.

"I'm not sure that big football club would be the right description," said Turner to BBC H&W on April 23rd.

"I've been out of that sort of area for a long time and I'm not daft enough to realise that I'm not going to get a big club."

By common consent Shrewsbury are not a big club.
