Speaking to BBC Hereford and Worcester, John Trewick said that the Bulls would have loved to survive in League One.
"We're going to go back down and the immediate aim is to bounce back. To try and have a good solid season next year and build the club into a stronger football club," said the Hereford United coach.
He also spoke about today's game.
"I thought there was nothing in the game for the first half hour until they scored. In fact we probably shaded it with possession. We looked a little bit threatening.
"And then we give an unnecessary foul away and the guy fires it into the top corner from the free kick.
"We seem to have suffered a lot from that type of circumstances.
"We all know we've found goals hard to come by so I think mentally when we go a goal behind the players think it's going to be tough."
