With the Bulls confirmed as going down, Cheltenham were keeping their vague hopes alive with a 2-1 win at Crewe. The Railwaymen are just above the drop zone on 46 points alongside Carlisle who drew 1-1 with Swindon (49 points). In the drop zone are Northampton, who beat Leyton Orient 3-1 and Brighton, who beat Oldham 3-1. Yeovil lost 3-2 at home to Hartlepool with the pair four and five points clear of relegation respectively.
At the top Leicester are promoted as champions after a 2-0 win at Southend, with the result effectively ending the Shrimpers' play-off hopes. Peterboro beat Stockport 1-0 but they will probably have to wait for the final day to confirm promotion after MK Dons beat Scunthorpe 1-0. The Iron are two points outside the play-offs with two games in hand as Tranmere lost 3-1 at Leeds wile Millwall lost 4-2 at Bristol Rovers.
In League Two Chester will need to win both their remaining matches after Bournemouth beat them 2-0 and Grimsby beat Port Vale 3-0. Chester are four points, and 20 goals, short of the Mariners and 40 goals short of Bournemouth. Shrewsbury won 2-1 at Rotherham to move back into the play-offs, as both Bradford and Darlington have their play-off hopes extinguished.
In the Conference it will go down to the wire for Burton after Friday's loss to Oxford and Cambridge's win over Salisbury mean that a Burton loss on the final day next Sunday coupled with a Cambridge win and four goal difference changing hands will see the U's go up instead. Northwich are relegated despite a fourth straight win after York beat Eastbourne to ease their own problems.
