The Bulls lost 2-1 at Prenton Park to all but confirm relegation back to League Two.
Another early horror show left the Bulls with a mountain to climb after goals from Bas Savage and Charlie Barnett but, following Ian Goodison's dismissal for a lunge at Marc Pugh, the Bulls staged a half-hearted comeback which resulted in a third straight penalty which Steve Guinan converted - but that was the last kick of the game.
Mathematically, the Bulls need to win every remaining game by some margin and for Carlisle to not claim a single point.
