Swans too strong for Young Bulls

Yesterday morning Hereford United's Youth Team took on one of the top sides in the league fresh from their defeat in the F.A. Youth Cup to holders Manchester City. Jak Lewis returned to the starting line up for the Bulls and Chris Freddi replaced Aidan Thomas who was recovering from a stomach bug.

The opening quarter of the game set the pattern for most of the match. The visitors retained the ball better but neither side was able to put the goalkeepers under serious threat. Midway through the half home keeper Matthew Gwynne made two excellent saves the second to deny the visitors attacker when he broke clean through the defence. The home resistance was eventually breached when the visitors sprung the offside trap and Gwynne was unable to perform his earlier heroics. At the other end James Cartwright was unfortunate when his goal bound shot was deflected onto the post.

The second half followed the pattern of the first although there was a lot more play in the visitors half. The introduction of Chris Hyde saw able support for the lively Jimmy Moreton. The best chance of the half fell to Moreton when he ran clear on the left unfortunately his was unable to keep his shot on target. As the game entered the final quarter both sides tired and holes began to appear in both defences. With three minutes left it was the visitors who took advantage and scored a second goal to seal victory.
