Leyton Orient are giving a trial to ex-Millwall and Crewe midfielder Justin Cochrane, who has been a free agent since leaving the New Den in the summer. Oldham have sacked teenage midfielder Aaron Chalmers for a breach of club discipline. Scunthorpe are one of several clubs to have dropped admission prices by 50p across the board following the drop in the VAT rate. Walsall will drop prices to the nearest 10p.

Swindon have loaned teenage defender Tom Evans to Truro for a month. The Western League side are not subject to the transfer window. The club have denied moving for Stuart Pearce as new boss, with Lawrie Sanchez now front runner with the bookies. Grimsby are in talks with Robbie Fowler over a player-coach role.

Bradford have cancelled the contract of striker Willy Topp after a dismal spell. The Chilean striker cost £35,000 and took several months to earn a work permit but never scored a first team goal. Rushden defender Curtis Woodhouse, currently on the transfer list, expects to end his footballing career after winning his ninth sucessive boxing match at the weekend. He plans four more fights in the New Year with a title match to follow.
