In recent seasons Hereford United have had a good record against higher graded teams in Cup competitions. Just last season the Bulls pulled off an excellent win over Leeds United for example.
This evening the Bulls travel to the latest home of Neil Warnock, Crystal Palace, for their first outing in this season's Cup Games.
The rules for the Carling Cup are much as for the FA Cup.
With a place in the second round up for grabs, it is a game, which will definitely provide one team with their first win of the season with extra-time, and penalties on the cards if the scores are level after 90 minutes.
If the match does go to penalties, it will finish around 10.30pm. Which could mean many Bulls fans will not be back in Herefordshire until around 2am. Few will mind if the Bulls pull off a shock win.
For those unable to attend, there will be full coverage of the game on BBC Hereford and Worcester's 94.7FM frequency around Herefordshire with both Keith Hall and Ricky George reporting from Selhurst Park.
Meanwhile Graham Turner has crossed swords with Neil Warnock several times over the years but it will probably the meeting between Wolves and Scarborough in August 1986 that both will remember and not only for the football.
This is how Warnock remembers the day.
Scarborough had just been promoted to Division Four from the Conference and their first opponents were Wolves who brought thousands of fans with them.
It was a Bank Holiday in August and many had been on the beach drinking and having a laugh. They swarmed into the ground and it was a great atmosphere when the game started.
Scarborough went ahead, then Wolves equalised and then Steve Bull put them in front before half-time.
"During the interval, the Wolves fans set about destroying new toilets we had put in for away supporters. They were smashing the hell out of them.
"One bloke climbed up on to the corrugated iron roof of the stand and started jumping up and down on it. Next thing you know, the idiot's fallen straight through it. An ambulance crew swept him off the floor and took him off to hospital.
"He later discharged himself, which amazed me.
"Because he was so pissed, the medical people said his body was relaxed when he hit the floor it limited the damage.
"The ref was talking about abandoning the game because of the crowd trouble so before the teams came out for the second half, they asked me and the Wolves boss, Graham Turner, to walk over to the away fans to try to pacify them. As I was walking over towards them, I could tell a lot of them were pretty smashed.
"We got to within about thirty yards of where they were standing and suddenly this Coca-Cola can came flying through the air out of nowhere and just missed my head. I picked it up and it was full of sand. It was like a piece of concrete.
"I said to Graham, feel that.
"He was a bit timid, Graham and he looked aghast.
"I think we'd better leave it to them - he said.
"He turned on his heels and trotted off. He was one of the nicest people you could ever wish to meet in football so I trotted off after him."
The game eventually finished 2-2 after Sheffield equalised.
