News Round Up

Wycombe have joined Barnet in being rebuffed in a bid for Luton forward Paul Furlong. The club have agreed an extension on winger Sergio Torres' contract for another two years. Rotherham have confirmed they are currently under a transfer embargo from the FA and cannot sign new players or extend exisiting loans further.

Mansfield have had two players ruled out for the rest of the season. Midfielder Lee Bell and veteran defender Martin McIntosh will not play again through injury, though prize asset Alex John-Baptiste is back in contention after a lengthy absence. The club was nearly sold on Friday until finance for the deal was pulled at the last minute.

MK Dons sold over 10,000 tickets for their Johnstones Paint Trophy final in the first day of sale yesterday. Grays appear to be playing tough with the FA over their demands to pay £14,000 to jailed player Ashley Sestanovich. Chairman Mick Woodward has refused to pay the demand on principle. Stockport beat Drogheda 1-0 in a friendly match in Ireland.

Brentford have signed Reading defender Alan Bennett on loan from Reading. The Republic of Ireland international spent the first half of the season on loan at Southampton. Ex-Bull Joe Anyinsah has joined Crewe on loan from Preston. The former Bristol City right winger joined Preston shortly after his time at Edgar Street but has rotted in the reserves for most of the last two and a half years, making only a handful of sub appearances.

Macclesfield have signed free agent defender Richard Walker on a month long contract and taken Everton striker Scott Spencer on loan for a month. Walker was released by Port Vale in January, while Spencer cost the Toffees £200,000 as a 17 year old from Oldham but is yet to break into the first team after two years. Wrexham are to give away a free child ticket with every adult ticket bought for their coming match with Bury.

Chesterfield have released reserve goalkeeper Michael Jordan after he was told his contract would not be renewed. The former Arsenal trainee, 21, played just seven times in two years.
