Tomorrow afternoon Hereford United meet Accrington (15th) and next Tuesday they play Mansfield (23rd). Both games are away and both games will need to be won by the Bulls if they are to remain in or very close to the top three in League Two.
However there is just a chance that the current top three teams could drop a point or two by 9.30pm or so on Tuesday evening as all three of them have at least one difficult game over the next few days.
Top Four in League Two:
1 Peterborough 35 33 71
2 Milton Keynes Dons 34 32 69
3 Darlington 34 32 68
4 Hereford 34 21 64
Interestingly all four top teams play their next two games away.
Tomorrow leaders Peterborough visit Dagenham (18th) who have won their last five games and on Tuesday they are away at Brentford (12th). On their present form Posh should stay top even if they drop a couple of points at one or other of the venues.
This evening (Friday) MK Dons travel to Grimsby (11th) who are quietly climbing up the table. Although the Dons have won both their last two games, 1-0 in each case, they have recently shared the points with both Shrewsbury and Rotherham. And they have the Paint Trophy final looming which is also against their opponents this evening Grimsby.
On Monday evening MK Dons travel to Chesterfield (8th). Again not the easiest of venues from which to take three points as Hereford United found out in January.
Darlington are the away team at Wycombe (6th) tomorrow and on Tuesday travel to Shrewsbury (16th). Neither games are away bankers especially as Shrewsbury are about to appoint a new manager.
On paper Hereford United probably have the best chance of taking six points from the next two games. Should they do so and all three teams above them drop at least two points then the top of League Two will be just that bit closer again.
