Turner pleased with Johnson

Last night's scorer Simon Johnson has come good at Hereford United as the season has gone on.

He had been shown the door at Leeds and released at the end of last season by Darlington.

"He lost his way a little bit, but I'm glad I gave him a contract," said manager Graham Turner after last night's game.

"We rode our luck once or twice and didn’t have too many chances. But Simon’s winner was superb.

"I don't know about hitting them like that every day in training — but it was a cracking finish.

"Simon is repaying us for the deal we have given him to the end of the season.

"Some players go into the comfort zone when that happens but clearly Simon has not.

"Things didn't happen quite right for him at Leeds but he clearly has not lost his ability."
