News Round Up

Mansfield's Fourth Round game with Middlesboro has been selected for live match coverage by the BBC. They will also televise the Man Utd vs Reading/Spurs match, leaving only one game to be named for coverage by Sky. Rochdale hope to loan Peterboro striker Rene Howe for the rest of the season after ending the loan of Accrington's Lee McEvilly.

Peterboro have completed the signing of Norwich goalkeeper Joe Lewis for £400,000 on a four and a half year deal. The 20 year old spent the first half of the season on loan at Morecambe. This deal takes Peterboro's transfer spending past the £3million mark in the year since Daragh McAnthony took over. One played expected to leave London Road is midfielder Gavin Strachan, who is poised to join Oxford as player-coach or Notts County.

Rotherham have signed teenage keeper Richard O'Donnell on a three month loan from Sheff Weds. Grimsby chairman John Fenty has hit out at eleven fans arrested at their match with Chesterfield: "They are clearly cowards and not fans of the club." Sky have selected the Chesterfield vs MK Dons match for live coverage on March 10th.

A Luton Town supporters club statement says that two bidders have made offers for the club prior to the deadline. The supporters club are backing a consortium of fans and businessmen, with the other bidder claimed to be the landowner for their proposed new stadium. Later, the Adminstrators stated that three parties had made bids, with the third rumoured to involve former England manager Graham Taylor. The BBC have named Man City vs West Ham as the other televised Third Round replay.

Darlington have signed Notts County defender Paul Mayo on a months loan. The 26 year old has been out of favour at Meadow Lane since the new management arrived. Morecambe have laughed at Bradford's offer of £10,000 for winger Garry Thompson, who is out of contract at the end of the season.

Wrexham are set to sign goalkeeper Gavin Ward from Chester on an 18 month contract. Ward is currently a coach at the Deva Stadium, but has only managed two appearances since joining in the summer. They have also signed Northampton winger Sam Aiston. The former Shrew had been on loan at the Racecourse. Macclesfield have named Nicky Reid as their new physio. The former Man City midfielder held a similar post at Bury, and replaces Bolton-bound Paul Lake.
