There are several players who have plied their trade both at Hereford United and Brentford the most recent one being Alan Connell who is expected to play for the Bees tomorrow.
Connell, a former Ipswich Town trainee, scored ten goals for The Bulls last year, in his only season at the club, and will be seeking another goal or two at Edgar Street this year.
According to a review on the Brentford Official website Connell will hope to follow in the footsteps of the last player to join Brentford from Hereford, who went on to captain a team in the top flight.
Gavin Mahon signed for Brentford in 1998 the last time The Bees were at this level and established himself in the championship-winning team. By the time he was sold to Watford in early 2002 he had proved to be a fine central midfield player and sweeper and went on to captain the Hornets to promotion in 2006 and in the Premiership the following year
Chris Hargreaves, another midfield player, now with Torquay spent two years at Edgar Street in the late 1990s while former Chelsea and Tottenham Hotspur man Colin Lee, who ended his career at Griffin Park, spent a spell on loan at Hereford in his days.
Other Brentford players to have plied their trade at Hereford include Jay Lovett, Barry Silkman and Andy Feeley, who was part of the Brentford team which reached the quarter finals of the FA Cup in 1989.
