Northwich Face Winding-Up Order

Northwich Victoria are facing a winding up order from the taxman, with Chairman Mike Connett pulling out of the Cheshire club.

HMRC, formerly the Inland Revenue and Customs and Excise, have issued a winding up petition against the club to be heard on October 17th. Chairman Connett formed a new club in 2004, costing the side it's Conference status in the process, to escape existing debts but the new entity has run up debts well into six figures according to potential investors.

Several 'saviours' have been approached in recent weeks, but all have baulked at the massive debts of the club that struggles to draw 500 at home at the current time. The independent Supporters Trust, NVST, have acknowledged that the club are likely to follow the route of Telford and reform at a lower level.

The club are currently on their third manager of the season, one-time Bulls' target Dino Maamria, and have just two points from their 12 games so far this season and are already ten points adrift of safety in the Conference.
