Hereford to play Birmingham City away in Carling Cup

Hereford United have been drawn away against Birmingham City in the second round of the Carling Cup.

The game is due to take place in the week commencing Monday August 27th, probably on the Tuesday evening.

The teams played in a friendly last season at Edgar Street but haven't met in a League or Cup game since January 1995 in an Auto Windscreens Shield Quarter Final when the Blues defeated the Bulls 3-1 at St Andrews in front of 22,352 spectators.

The Bulls should take a good following to St Andrews as it's not too far from Hereford. The ground has a capacity of around 30,000 (all-seated) and away supporters can be allocated room for 4,500.

As regards the receipts from the game Hereford would be expected to receive up to 40%.

Birmingham have a grading system for the admission charges to their games. For example their September League game against Bolton is a grade C game and supporters are charged £15 for adults and everyone else just £5. It is reasonable to assume that, unless Hereford United object, the prices for the Carling Cup game could be similar.
