The Official Barnet website have said that Billy Meadows, the former Hereford United and Barnet player, will be at Underhill on Saturday.
Billy Meadows, one of the greatest goalscorers in Barnet's history and also a Hereford United favourite of the past, returns to Underhill as a special guest on Saturday for the League 2 meeting of two of his former clubs.
Meadows, who averaged a goal every two games in some 250 appearances for the Bees, netted 78 when he first joined the club in 1968. The legendary Welsh international John Charles signed Meadows for the Bulls when he was in charge in 1971 and the marksman was a member of United's Southern League side that memorably beat Newcastle United 2-1 .... a match that established Barnet fan John Motson as a top BBC television commentator.
Ricky George, who scored Hereford's winner that day and played alongside Meadows with both the Bees and the Bulls, had hoped to be at Saturday's game with his old team-mate and travelling companion but has a commitment to cover a game for the Daily Telegraph.
Meadows later returned to Barnet as player-manager and signed Jimmy Greaves, arguably England's greatest-ever goalscorer, for the club along with other star names.
Meadows will be in The Pavilion before the game and hopes to meet old friends from the past from both clubs. He will be introduced to the crowd at half-time.
