Shrewsbury boss Gary Peters has blasted departing striker Derek Asamoah over his conduct after his £50,000 move to Nice was confirmed today.
Peters claims that Asamoah rang in sick then disappeared without another word, only surfacing when a third-party agent informed them of Nice's interest. Peters claims Asamoah would have been sacked if he had failed to secure a contract at Nice.
With fellow forward Andy Cooke expected to be out for several weeks, Peters has signed Stuart Nicholson on a season long loan from West Brom. Nicholson spent a large part of last season on loan at Bristol Rovers, scoring seven times in 26 appearances. He will wear the no. 10 shirt vacated by Asamoah.
