News Round Up

Ex-Bull Rob Purdie became the 1,000th player to be used by Darlington in the Football League when he came on as a sub last Saturday. He played central midfield in that game, but was deployed at full back on Tuesday.

Rotherham have received a 'boost' with the news that the Chuckle Brothers will be in attendance for their match on Sunday. Meanwhile, their Chief Operating Officer Paul Douglas has claimed that the "Solidarity Payment" is not enough: 'I suppose we should be grateful and to some extent we have won the argument by saying it is only by looking after the smaller clubs that keeps the Premiership as strong as it is. With all the money that's in the top level of the game, we don't think enough is being filtered down. But, we have to be grateful for what we get and what the Football League is able to get for us.'

Bristol Rovers have delayed the redevelopment of their Memorial Ground home. The delay means they will not groundshare with Cheltenham this season but will move into Whaddon Road in August 2008 with completion now expected around December 2009. Sky Sports have picked their Carling Cup matches for the Second Round, with both Bristol sides being shown. Rovers face West Ham for the Tuesday game, with City facing Man City on the Wednesday.

The transfer tribunal ruling of £4,000 for Accrington's signing of Northwich's Mark Roberts is to be appealed by the Vics, with chairman Mike Connett calling the award "derisory". Halifax's mystery consortium has been revealed as two former, and one current, board members at Bradford. The two former Directors will spearhead the takeover while the current Director, Steve Longbottom, has refused to answer questions on the takeover.

Lincoln have signed midfielder Jamie Hand from Chester on a free transfer. Hand, 23, was a regular last season but missed the opening league game before playing in the Carling Cup on Tuesday. The move will free up funds at Chester, with Bobby Williamson still looking at more targets.
