14 League Two teams bowed out of the competition to higher graded opposition. Barnet, Accrington, Darlington, Brentford, Bury, Chester (after penalties), Notts County, Dagenham, Lincoln, Grimsby, Macclesfield, Mansfield, Wycombe, Chesterfield all slipped out of the competition.
Apart from the Bulls demolition of Yeovil, MK Dons beat Ipswich on penalties after a 3-3 draw thanks to a Kevin Gallen equaliser from the spot in the last minute of injury time. Wrexham beat Port Vale, also on penalties, after a 1-1 draw. Morecambe, in their first ever Carling Cup match, beat local rivals Preston 2-1. Rochdale beat Stoke on penalties after a 2-2 draw, and Shrewsbury beat Colchester 1-0 in extra time. Stockport beat Tranmere 1-0.
Last night's seven winners are joined by Peterboro from Monday's game, with Bradford travelling to Wolves tonight and Rotherham entertaining Sheff Weds tomorrow.
