Once again The Bulls make an early season visit to Sven Goran Fairclough's Barnet FC in the second League match and first away trip of the season. Last year the expedition to the London Borough was supported by not far short of 600 fans who returned disappointed following a 3-0 reverse so this time, Graham Turners squad will be hopeful of giving the travelling throng a bit more to cheer about. Barnet can trace their history right back to 1888 and have been at their present home since 1907. Regarded as not the best stadium in League 2, Underhill can, none the less, produce a fine atmosphere as both sets of fans share the covered accommodation on the East side-terrace separated only by a neutral zone.
Admission is understood to be £15 for adults, U18's or students with a valid NUS card can obtain a £4 discount voucher from the ticket office before going to the turnstiles. U12's are charged £5 but again, a voucher needs to be obtained from the ticket office.
By Car: - Leave the M25 at Junction23 and at the roundabout, take the 4th exit onto the A1081 towards Barnet. At the next roundabout, 1.45 miles, take the 2nd exit onto St Albans Road - A1081. At traffic signals in Barnet take a right onto the A1000. Barnet FC is at the bottom (if you’ll pardon the expression) of Barnet Hill near the Junction of Station Road (A110). Car drivers must rely on Street Parking although; there may be spaces at High Barnet Underground Station (£2). Distance is between 130 and 140 miles depending on route.
HUISA: - Supporters coaches will depart Edgar Street at 9.00 am. Fare £16. Bookings can be made in Legends before the Yeovil game on Tuesday or through the club office during the week (01432 276666).
FUNBUS: - Departs The Street at 9.30 am. Est. fare £13. Contact Oxo or Young Ben. (Two seats remaining as at 11.00 am Wednesday - Edit...now full)
Train/Tube: - Hereford to London Paddington then take a Central Line Tube to Kings Cross and a Northern Line Tube to High Barnet Station. Underhill is a five-minute walk down Barnet Hill. Alternatively, make your way to Kings Cross and catch a faster surface train to New Barnet Station. This has the advantage of delivering you to the doorstep of Wetherspoons’' "Railway Bell".
Pubs:- I believe The Bees supporters club does not admit visiting supporters although the Old Red Lion just behind the north entrance to Underhill was well populated with Bulls fans last season. At the top of Barnet Hill, are the Moon under Water, Wetherspoons and the King John whereas at the bottom of the hill, by the underground bridge are The Weaver and the Queens Arms.
Enjoy.
