Barnet Thumped

Saturday's opponents Barnet suffered a 5-2 loss at Norwich in last night's Carling Cup match, but neither manager was happy with their respective sides' performances.

While Paul Fairclough was not happy about conceding five times in the opening half-hour, with every on-target shot hitting the back of the net, Norwich boss Peter Grant was equally unhappy with his side's second half performance. The Bees scored twice in the second period without reply, got as many shots on target as the Canaries throughout the game, and forced 11 corners to the home side's 3.

Grant told the local press: "It shouldn't happen. I keep saying that to the players. Barnet were getting too many crosses in, especially in the first-half and I said at half-time I didn't want them to have another chance. But they had more than that; they scored two and had more chances on top of that. They still got their crosses in, they're still having efforts on the edge of the box far too often and as I said, the second half performance was very poor to say the least."

Barnet will entertain the Bulls on Saturday without former England non-league international Neil Bishop, who was sent off late last night for violent conduct.
