Stevenage Chairman Issues Warning

Stevenage Chairman Phil Wallace yesterday issued a "hands-off" warning to Clubs circling some of the more talented players at Broadhall Way.

Wallace told the official Stevenage website "Youngsters Alan Julian, Ronnie Henry and George Boyd are all under 20 and attracting scouts from a host of top clubs whilst Anthony Elding and Jon Nurse, both in their early 20's, are being tracked by several as well. Our players know that their aim must be to play in the Championship at least if they ever leave us. Moving to a League Two side is not a career move in our eyes so any interest from those clubs is simply wasted on us - anyway Graham Westley has made it clear that their job is to win the league with us and that's all we want to think about right now."

Strangely, Wallace's statement is factually inaccurate with neither Alan Julian (22), nor Ronnie Henry (21) under 20. The timing of the statement, four days after the transfer window closed, is also odd - considering that it will be three months before any contracted player is allowed to move anywhere.
