Money is not a Windfall
Graham Turner has told BBC Hereford and Worcester that the money due from Yeovil Town is a just reward for the hard work put in with young players at Edgar Street. The money is not a windfall but will arrive because of shrewd business practice which can lead to long-term benefits for Hereford.
"We developed the player, who left at the end of his contract for not very much money, so the sell-on clause was part of the transfer deal.I suppose it could be looked upon as a bonus," said Turner.
"It's part of the business of the football club when we sell players to maintain an interest in anything that developes in the future."
Although there is no official conformation of the actual amount that Hereford United will receive, a sum thought to be around £50,000 is expected to be received from Yeovil after the sale of Gavin Williams. Already some supporters are suggesting that Graham Turner should spend the money on players.
The fee could be used for a number of reasons, but it has to be remembered that Hereford United still owe at least £1m to Formsole, the ground needs investment to bring it up to a higher standard, and the Bulls want to get out of the Conference.
