Can Turner keep Green?
There was no mention of Ryan Green, the Welsh international, in interviews Graham Turner gave to local media last week.
When the Hereford United manager spoke about players who had decided to spend another season at Edgar Street, Green was not mentioned.
However Turner spoke about Matt Baker, whose future at Hereford is not clear. He also spoke about the depature of Ben Smith. The only official pointer to a move for Green to Chester has been a comment by Mark Wright, the Chester manager, in a local Chester paper.
Turner, who tends to play his cards close to his chest, must of known of rumours surrounding Green when speaking to the press. As he choose not to talk about them, the implication must be no deal is agreed, even if one has been discussed.
The timing of the statement released by Hereford United about Chester's failure to pay £18k for ticket sales could be significent in that the implication might be drawn that Chester can not afford Green.
Even the Non-League Paper covered the story yesterday with the headline "Pay or we sue Bulls warn Chester". It reported Turner's words: "But we are aware of them signing or attempting to sign expensive players including one from this club."
At present it looks as though Turner is trying to keep Green, who many fans think is potentially worth as much as Paul Parry, by talking about Chester in interviews. Whether he will be successful remains to be seen.
Meanwhile there are just nine more days, including today, to buy a season ticket to watch Hereford United at a discounted price. All orders taken and paid for on or before June 15th will be discounted but after that date prices rise by about 10%.
For example ground tickets rise from £145 to £160 for adults and from £75 to £85 for a child or senior citizen. For more information call the Hereford United office on 01432 276666.
Some good news about players staying at Edgar Street this week could give a boost to season ticket sales.
