Turner ready for six-pointer
Both sides need the points as Hereford United host Kettering Town in the Nationwide Conference tomorrow, kick off 3pm.
Eleven points from safety, Kettering Town have had a torrid season following last season's promotion from the Dr. Martens League. Manager Carl Shutt has battled against a dire financial situation and on their travels, the Poppies have picked up just ten points from a possible forty five, scoring just ten goals in the process. "We will fight on, we are not throwing in the towel yet," he said optimistically.
Graham Turner, the United boss, told the Evening News: "Carl Shutt's got to be talking positive and I wouldn't expect anything less but you always get some funny results at this stage of the season and we have to make sure it doesn't happen to us."
On the other hand, Hereford's home record reads won seven, drawn five and lost four, with a goal difference of +12. They are currently sixth and battling for a play-off place.
Kettering have lost five of their last six Conference matches, but Hereford have picked up just two points from their last possible nine. They haven't, though, lost a league game at Edgar Street since November, a record which stretches back for seven games.
"It will probably be no easier than Yeovil. They are scrapping for their lives," Turner continued. "It will be a different sort of match but I think we have got to get three points on board.
"At this stage in the season it doesn't matter how the points come because it's all about keeping up in touch with the play-off places. It's looking good for us at this stage with no injury worries and we've got Matt Clarke back on board who had 15 minutes against Yeovil and also played for 80 minutes for the reserves against Telford United."
