Chester track former United striker
One-time Hereford United attacker Ian Foster has been linked with a move to the Bulls' play-off rivals Chester City.
Liverpudlian Foster was released by Kidderminster Harriers last week and had been set to join Burton Albion, but decided to stay full-time and trained at the Deva Stadium last Friday. He moved from Hereford to Barrow in 1998, moving south to Kidderminster a year later as the Cumbrians were in dire financial difficulties.
Chester boss Mark Wright told the Kidderminster Shuttle: "If we can get Ian Foster here it will be another big plus for us because he's quick, he dribbles and he gets at people. If we can do a deal it will be beneficial to us."
Despite pushing for the Third Division play-offs, Harriers recorded an attendance of just 2,006 for Tuesday's 1-0 win over Southend United at Aggborough last week. It was just four people above their lowest Football League attendance, and highlights the financial constraints that boss Ian Britton finds himself under. In comparison, Hereford United recorded a crowd of 2,322 for their last home game against Stevenage Borough, which they drew 2-2.
It is hoped that a similar audience will turn out for Saturday's game against Kettering on Saturday. Carl Shutt's side will miss ex-Hereford midfielder Scott Goodwin through suspension, and Danny Holyoak and Michael McKenzie are also banned. Striker Carlin Otonga is a doubt with a knee injury.
