Kidderminster Harriers have parted company with manager Phil Brown after the club failed to win promotion from National League North.
After a strong 5-1 win over Hereford on Easter Monday, Harriers just needed a win against Southport on the final day to be crowned champions. Having lost that game, they needed a win over Chester in the play-off semi-finals - and lost that too. Afterwards, Brown said he felt his players could not handle the pressure and it's something he would have to address over the summer.
But he won't have the chance as the Worcestershire club have confirmed that both he and his assistant Neil McDonald are leaving with immediate effect despite having a year left on their contracts.
"Whilst we came very close to achieving our goal, the outcome of the season ultimately proved bitterly disappointing," said chairman Richard Lane, speaking on the club website.
"We remain firmly focused on our primary objective for the club, which is returning to the National League.
"We feel now is the right time to make changes before embarking our future campaign.
"I would personally like to thank both Phil and Neil for their efforts during their time with Kidderminster Harriers and we wish them nothing but the best for the future and their next challenge.
"The process of appointing a new manager is already underway and we hope to update our loyal supporters soon."
The club have said they will make no further comment at this time after parting company with the 65-year-old former Derby, Hull and Southend boss was appointed in January on a deal to the end of the season.
