HUST is delighted to be working in partnership with Hereford FC to offer an exciting opportunity for our Exiles, at home and abroad, to sponsor seats in the stadium at Edgar Street for disadvantaged fans in our community.
Members of HUST are encouraged to put forward ideas to the HUST board for improving the matchday experience for all fans and this one is no exception. Richard Bennett introduced the idea and after discussions with the Club on how to make it work to best advantage we are now thrilled to launch this ahead of our first home match vs Darlington on 12th August 2023.
Richard, who lives in the States, tells us how he came up with the idea: “As a lifelong Hereford fan, now finding myself nearly 5,000 miles away from Edgar Street, I was looking for a way to bolster the club’s funds but also give something back to the local community. As an expat the thing I miss the most is football. There is nothing quite like the matchday experience in person, so to be able to give this to those less fortunate is a fantastic opportunity.”
HOW WILL IT WORK?
Any Exile fan can become a Matchday Ticket Sponsor by donating anything from a one off match ticket to a full season ticket (or multiple ST’s!) worth of tickets. You choose!
The donation “pot” will be split across all 23 home matches for the 2023/24 season to give us the number of seats that will be available to offer to members of the Community that are needing support. The more money in the pot, the more seats we can offer. Should the recipient of a ticket need the support of a carer, these will be catered for too.
HUST Chairman, Richard Tomkins, said “ This is an excellent project to be able to involve all our fans from far and wide, who aren’t able to get to Edgar Street. Social Inclusion is incredibly important to our football community and this can only improve the matchday experience for all fans, the club and the players. It’s a win win”
As we launch this, our thanks go to those exile fans who have already pledged an initial £1160 to kick start the project and also to Talking Bull who have kindly offered to be the sponsor. In addition, we have our first recipient lined up, who is a lifelong Hereford fan who is thrilled to be offered this opportunity.
Chris Ammonds, Chairman of Hereford FC said “Community is at the heart of our Club and having a positive initiative to support as many fans as possible to join us on a Matchday is invaluable. We would encourage fans to get involved and we look forward to working alongside HUST”
