Huge praise for Cameron's mentality despite relegation with Telford

Nathan Cameron trying to dispossess Miles Storey at Edgar Street last season
Hereford's new signing Nathan Cameron couldn't help to turn things around at AFC Telford United last season as they were relegated from the National League North.

With the side adrift at the foot of the table, Cameron was brought in to try and shore up the defence.

And boss Kevin Wilkin said in March that Cameron had helped to improve Telford’s mentality as well as providing a much-need physical boost.

In February, he joined on a short-term deal which saw him stay the New Bucks Head until the end of the season.

And after four appearances, Wilkin told the Shropshire Star: “He brings solidness to our backline, he is physically very strong and he has had a good career,” the Bucks boss said.

“Nathan is a competitive boy, but equally, he has that bit of character within the changing room where he believes in what he does.

“He takes responsibility for his role within the team, and he helps improve the group, that is what he does we are delighted he scored and got a goal as well.

“He is a solid player, and the type of player we need more of as he can deal with the physical side as well as the mental side.”

Bulls sign defender with more than 200 Football League appearances to his name

Hereford FC have announced the signing of former Football League defender Nathan Cameron.

With the Bulls' pre-season campaign starting tomorrow with the short trip to Hereford Pegasus, manager Paul Caddis said he was delighted with the signing.

Speaking to the club's website, Caddis said: "Clearly the squad lacked depth in the centre of defence, but as with all the signings made to date, we wanted this to be the right signing and not a rushed one.

“Nathan will bring a tenacity and physicality to the back line, as well as the communication and organisational abilities needed to be a successful central defender.

“Having shared a dressing room with Nathan many years ago, I know the type of human being he is and one of the key factors in bringing Nathan to the club was knowing his characteristics not just as a player, but also as a person."

Caddis said Cameron will do "whatever it takes to keep clean sheets" and had turned down "several opportunities" to join other clubs.

The 31-year-old started his career at Coventry before making 126 appearances for Bury.

He then had spells with Macclesfield, Solihull and Kidderminster and was most recently at AFC Telford United.

He has made more than 200 Football League appearances and was previously part of England's under-20s.

One To Watch - Stanley Anaebonam

Hereford recently signed Stanley Anaebonam and an article from 'Off The Line Blog' suggests he'll do well.

"Such are his qualities, he was highlighted for the efficiency of his game despite playing on poor surfaces at the lower, more regionalised level, only emphasising even further the threat that his pace and power on the ball can have.

"Hereford needed someone last year who was able to take the game to the opposition and change the pace of the game, and Anaebonam will.

"His athleticism will allow them to get up the pitch, his quick feet dazzling opposition defences, and his physical prowess giving them a really durable option.

"I consider him loosely to Yannick Bolasie when he was at his best; the raw athletic qualities to glide past players, get them on the back foot and the swagger alongside it.

"Many have said he has the capabilities of playing at Step 1 of non league or even the EFL with the right coaching, and so while he is at Hereford he will most certainly be one to watch.

"It is safe to say that if we get the best version of Anaebonam as his explosive self, he is going to be a serious handful for defences at this level."

York City Takeover Completed

The takeover of York City has been completed by billionaires from Canada.

The club have confirmed that, following a transfer of shares from Glen Henderson, 394 Sports Ltd have acquired a 51% majority stake in the club.

394 Sports Limited is led by The Uggla family, with mother and son duo Julie-Anne and Matthew assuming the roles of Co-Chair of York City Football Club pending FA approval.

"It’s amazing to get it done. It has been a pretty quick process and we need to hit the ground running because things are getting underway and we need to catch up with other teams who have had all summer to prepare," said Matthew

"We can really take this club as far as we want to take it, I think the sky really is the limit, there’s not really a ceiling on this club. It’s just a case of putting the right structures and plans in place to really go for it."

The two Trust-appointed directors Alastair Smith and Mike Brown will remain on the board.

According to the York press The Uggla family previously attempted to complete the takeover of Yeovil Town football club, but after their attempts failed the Glovers suffered relegation.

The paper adds that The Uggla family are billionaires from Canada and have a number of interests in business, charity and investment. Matt Uggla is the son of Lance Uggla, a significant supporter of the Tate Galleries.

Andy Whing

Former Hereford assistant manager Andy Whing has been appointed manager at Solihull Moors.

Whing left Banbury last month after a year in charge.

“I am absolutely thrilled to be joining Solihull Moors and delighted to make the step up into full-time management," said Whing.

“My time at Banbury has given me a great grounding and the experience that I gained there will prove invaluable. I can’t wait to get going now, meet the lads and start pre-season off on the right foot.

“Having seen the training facilities and the set-up here at Moors, I am incredibly impressed by what I have seen and feel we have everything in place to have a successful season."

McLean Is An 'Old-School' Winger

Former Hereford player Ryan McLean is an 'old-school' winger according to his new boss at Wimbledon.

McLean moved to the Dons for a small fee last week.

“I don’t know much about the league and Hereford as such, but I had a look at his clips online and looked at some of his games – I really liked what I saw," said manager Johnnie Jackson.

“He’s a young and exciting player who wants to get at people and is very direct – he’s an old-school winger.

“He wants to get on the ball and get at people. I thought it would be something that would be very useful to us, and he’s keen to make that next step in his career.

“He’s never been full time or played league football before, but he’s young and hungry – he wants to crack on.

“Sometimes you can unearth gems with lads that have a point to prove and want to take that next step in their career.”

Jordan Cranston Signs For The Bulls

Jordan Cranston has signed for Hereford.

He's a 29 year old left back who played for AFC Fylde last season.

He started his career with Wolves and played for the Wales Under 18's.

"Jordan played a part in securing the National League North title with Fylde last year so he doesn’t just possess quality, he also has a winning mentality," said manager Paul Caddis.

"Naturally a left sided full back, he can comfortably play at centre half and across the midfield as well. He has a brilliant left foot with enormous quality and always looks to play forward.

"Jordan will bring a calmness and experience to our group and again, he is another player who had financial offers superior to what we can offer here, but who has decided to join us at what he sees as a really exciting forward thinking football club."

Coach Adam Rooney and Cranston played at Solihull during the 21/22 season.

Cranston tweeted: 'Pleasure to be on board looking forward to the new season.'

Rooney tweeted:  Great to have Jordan Cranston on board! Welcome mate! Brings a load of experience and quality to the team!

In his first interview since joining the club, he said the club needs players who will give 100 per cent.

The 35-year-old striker, who was at play-off finalists Brackley last season, will also be registered as a player.

Speaking to the club's YouTube channel, he said the atmosphere at Edgar Street was one of the main reasons players have signed.

Describing the type of player he is, Rooney said he has become more of a link player, one that runs in behind and is more involved in the build-up, trying to organise on the pitch and trying to help.

He also said standards have been set.

Aurio Teixeira has also spoken ahead of the first pre-season friendly on Saturday.

Stadium Accreditation Programme

The FA has announced a new Stadium Accreditation Programme.

"The FA and the Premier League will be joining forces from July 2023 to launch a new Stadium Accreditation Programme for clubs that play in the National League System.

Following an 18-month period of consultation and extensive research with key stakeholders across the game, it has been agreed that from this summer, the Premier League Stadium Fund will begin collecting ground-grading data for The FA at all of the stadiums used within the National League System.

The process will be digitised for the first time since the ground-grading process was introduced over 15 years ago through the creation of a new digital tool, StadiumPower...

StadiumPower will provide far greater insight about stadiums which will help ensure the League’s investment is directed where it is needed the most. The new digital process will also allow clubs to keep track of the works required to their facility, as well as provide them with a live platform to report on any changes or improvement works that are carried out at their stadium.

The rollout of the new programme will begin in July with the aim of assessing every stadium across the country by the end of the year."

Zak Lilly, centre, has joined Stourbridge

Lilly was one of 10 players to be released by Hereford at the end of last season as new manager Paul Caddis started the process of building his side.

He has now signed for Stourbridge, who ply their trade in the Southern League Premier Division Central at step three.

The defender, who used to play up front, featured for the West Midlands side on loan in the 2018/19 season.

The club said he would strengthen their back line for the coming season.

Lilly made 23 appearances for Hereford during his season-long stint at Edgar Street, and follows players such as Tyrone Barnett, Jared Hodgkiss and Orrin Pendley in dropping down to step three.

After his release from Hereford, the 37-year-old striker was snapped up by the Warwickshire side with a view to also be involved in their academy.

The club said he would be working alongside Chris Knott at the academy

"I am currently completing my UEFA B coaching licence, so working with Chris (Knott) is vital in that sense," Barnett told the club's website.

On his return to the Southern League after 13 years, he said: "I’m very much looking forward to it. I’ve not played alongside any of the Leamington lads before, but have come across many of them in my career.

I can’t wait to get started."

Tyrone is said to be looking forward to being able to pass on the benefit of his experience to his new team mates, particularly Callum Stewart and Henry Landers, saying: "Hopefully with my experience I can help the younger players score goals and become better players all round, but ultimately I will be trying to score as many as I can myself to get wins for Leamington."

Manager Paul Holleran said: "He’ll be a good asset to us off the pitch as well in his other role at the club."

Barnett, a million-pound striker who has previously been at clubs including Peterborough, Shrewsbury and Cheltenham, was brought to Edgar Street last summer by Josh Gowling.

He was released by new Bulls boss Paul Caddis after making 45 appearances and becoming the club’s highest scorer with nine goals.

It appears a player exodus could be unfolding in Norfolk as National League North side King’s Lynn Town have now lost six players.

The Eastern Daily Press reports that manager Mark Hughes’s summer plans will be suffering a severe hit.

Defenders Aaron Jones and Tai Fleming are the latest out the door.

They follow fellow defender Tyler Denton, midfielder Theo Widdrington, captain Michael Clunan, and leading scorer Gold Omotayo all left for pastures new.

Jones said on social media that he had made the very difficult decision to leave the club after five years and 167 appearances.

He said: “Throughout my time at The Walks, I have met some remarkable people. Managers who believed in me, team-mates who have become lifelong friends, backroom staff who went above and beyond and fans who have shown me unwavering support.

"Together, we have achieved a lot. Back-to-back promotions, the transition from part-time to full-time, FA Cup triumphs and plenty of unforgettable memories along the way."

Former Hereford loanee Ollie Hulbert has signed for Cymru Premier side Barry Town United after being released by Yeovil Town.

Hulbert, a striker who spent a month on loan at Hereford in 2021, was one of nine players released by Yeovil after they were relegated from the National League.

The striker was 18 when he joined the Bulls on loan from Bristol Rovers, making seven appearances and scoring once against Lymington in the FA Cup replay at Edgar Street.

Amadi-Holloway's contract cancelled after 'significant changes'

Aaron Amadi-Holloway has left Edgar Street
Aaron Amadi-Holloway has left Edgar Street after the second year of his contract was cancelled by mutual consent.

Primarily a striker when he signed, Amadi-Holloway put in solid performances as a central defender in Josh Gowling's side.

But Paul Caddis said Amadi-Holloway made it clear he would like to leave, "primarily due to non-footballing reasons".

Praising him as a top professional, he told the club's website: "I have always said I will not stand in a player’s way if they do not want to be a part of our positive rebuild moving forward and I have kept my word with Aaron in this case.”

Hereford FC chairman Chris Ammonds said there had been "significant changes" at the football club since Amadi-Holloway signed.

Those changes include a new manager, chairman, training schedule and playing squad.

Ammonds said "it was eventually decided that it would be in the best interests of all parties to reach an agreement to cancel Aaron’s contract".

Both wished the player the best for the future.

The full article, including more from Caddis and Ammonds, can be read here.

The 30-year-old, who has turned out for several Football League clubs, made 40 appearances for the Bulls last season, scoring four goals.

In a players update, the club said it had accepted an improved offer from a Championship side for goalkeeper Owen Foster.

The Iron had rejected the first offer that was submitted to the club.

They expect confirmation of the transfer to go through next week.

Foster, a product of the club's academy, signed his first professional contract in 2022. It was a two-year deal with a one-year option in the club’s favour.

National League side Oldham Athletic have also tried to poach a Scunthorpe player - without success.

The Iron said they had rejected an offer for defender Reagan Ogle.

"As previously stated, Reagan remains firmly in (manager) Jimmy Dean's plans for the 2023-24 season," a statement said.

The Australian joined the club from Hartlepool United last year, and had spells with Accrington Stanley, AFC Fylde and Altrincham.

FSA Fans Survey

The Football Supporters Association has released results of their latest fans survey.

Fans overwhelmingly back the introduction of an independent football regulator to ensure their clubs are run sustainably, according to the results of our National Supporters Survey.

The findings also reveal the impact that the rising cost of living is having on the amount the supporters have to spend on attending football, as well as widespread criticism of VAR.

Almost 10,000 fans took part in the FSA’s National Supporters’ Survey – last run in 2017 – to give their thoughts on the state of football ahead of the new season.

  • Nine in ten fans (88.2%) agreed on the need for an independent regulator to ensure clubs are run sustainably.
  • Only one in 20 (5.5%) of fans who had experienced VAR in stadiums rated their experience of it as good or very good.
  • Just under half of those polled (46.9%) believed that their club cared about them and their views.
  • Only a third (37.8%) feel optimistic for the future of football.
  • One in five (21.7%) fans said they were attending fewer games because of the rising cost of living, and almost a third (31.9%) had reduced their matchday spending on items such as food, drink and programmes.

VAR

The FSA first asked about video referees in their 2017 survey, and there was widespread support of trials of video referees for game-changing decisions – three-quarters (74.6%) of fans were in favour.

Now that they have seen the system in action, only a quarter (26.8%) of fans said they were absolutely or somewhat in favour of it, compared with almost two-thirds (63.3%) who were against it.

More than three-quarters of matchgoers (79.1%) and two-thirds of TV viewers (65.4%) rated their experience as either poor or very poor.

Delays

The delays to the game in terms of the length of time it takes to come to a VAR decision are a major negative factor – an overwhelming majority (91.9%) agreed that decisions take too long to make.

The lack of clarity around the process is also an issue – four in five respondents (80%) said that fans should be able to hear discussions between the VAR and the on-pitch referee.

Cost of living

The rising cost of living has had an impact on how much people spend on attending football, with two in five (40.1%) of respondents saying they were already spending less on football due to the current financial climate.

One-fifth (21.7%) of fans said they were attending fewer games because of the cost of living.

Of fans who said they were attending less than in previous seasons, the most commonly cited factors are work/family commitments (30.9%), high ticket prices (30.3%), an inability to obtain tickets (22.8%), and changes in financial circumstances (21.9%).

On the back of the EFL’s record TV deal, there was strong support for an away price cap as there is in the Premier League to help keep football affordable – almost nine in ten (88.2%) were in favour of such a measure.

FSA Chair Malcolm Clarke said: “Football has said for years that it can regulate itself. The findings from our survey show that it has become apparent to the overwhelming majority of fans that it can not, and that independent regulation is required to safeguard the future of our clubs, and the game itself.”

“Football clubs can’t continue to be allowed to mark their own homework, and so we will be pressing the Government to make sure that the regulator laid out in their White Paper becomes a reality.”

“The results also reveal the extent to which football fans, as with many millions of others up and down the country, are feeling the pinch due to the rising cost of living. We support any initiative which keeps football affordable and available to all.”

The results of the survey will be discussed at this weekend’s FSA AGM – register here – , which is to be held in Manchester as part of the European Football Fans Congress run by pan-European fan body Football Supporters Europe.

Halesowen said they were delighted to confirm Hickman had pledged his future to the Yeltz after joining towards the end of last season when the club secured promotion to step three.

Vanarama National League North club Brackley Town have announced the permanent signing of 20-year-old midfielder Liam Cross following his release from SkyBet League One side Northampton Town, Non-League Today reports.

Vanarama National League North club Scunthorpe United have announced the signing of winger Callum Roberts from Aberdeen on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee, Non-League Today reports.

Mkandawire praises Turner for giving him a chance

Tamika Mkandawire pictured during the 2006/07 season

Former Hereford United defender Tamika Mkandawire has been speaking to the Shropshire Star about Graham Turner.

Having had two loan spells with Hereford United in the 2003/04 season from West Bromwich, he signed permanently for the Bulls for the 2004–05 season.

He hardly missed any games during the next two seasons, with Hereford securing promotion back to the Football League with the 3-2 win over Halifax in May 2006.

After spells with the armband, he was then made club captain for the 2006/07 season, before moving to Leyton Orient.

Fast forward to 2013, he linked up again with Graham Turner - the long-time Hereford United manager and owner - and John Trewick, but this time at Shrewsbury.

Mkandawire then left after Salop were relegated back to League Two at the end of the season, but said it was tough to see Turner go when he resigned midway through the campaign.

He said it was a challenging time for himself and the club.

"He was always good to me, Graham Turner. He kind of gave me my start in football really, in terms of first-team football," Mkandawire, now 40, told the Shrews Views podcast.

"So from that perspective, it was tough to see him go because he'd always been good to me and, like I said, gave me my chance.

"It's tough. Ultimately, it really didn't really change much."

He added: "I was sad to see Graham Turner go. He's done well for himself, he's got a good name in football, a great name with what he did with Wolves."

After Shrewsbury, Mkandawire moved to North American Soccer League's Tampa Bay Rowdies and retired four years later.

Ammonds Details McLean's Move

Hereford chairman Chris Ammonds has given details about Ryan McLean's move to AFC Wimbledon.

McLean had previously said he would like to move into full time football.

“Although we had exercised our contractual option of retaining Ryan for another season, he was open and honest with us about his desire to move into full-time football as soon as possible and we completely understand those ambitions.

“While we had previously accepted an offer from a National League team, that deal did not complete and therefore Ryan was committed to returning to training with us.

“However, earlier this week we received an approach from the Dons which matched our previous valuation and as we realise this is a fantastic opportunity for Ryan, we did not want to stand in his way once we had another offer we felt was acceptable."

Rushall Olympic Thought They Had Signed Anaebonam

Just two weeks ago Rushall Olympic thought they had signed Stanley Anaebonam but with the news that he has joined Hereford it seems that any deal was premature.

This is how they reported the signing at the time:

THE PICS have completed the signing of Stanley Anaebonam from Stourbridge.

His arrival at The Glassboys during the course of last season made a big contribution to their upturn in fortunes and his dynamic displays soon marked him out as a popular figure and key member of the team.

“I watched him play quite a few times last season,” said manager, Liam McDonald. “He is the type of player that I want to bring into the club as we face the challenge of Step 2.

“He’s got plenty of quality and will excite the fans with his attacking wing play.

“He is a player with so much potential and I am looking forward to working with him. It is exciting to see how he can develop with us and bring his pace and strength to the Vanarama National League North stage.”

Hodgkiss Signs For Telford

Jared Hodgkiss

Jared Hodgkiss has joined AFC Telford who were relegated from the National North League recently.

He has signed a one year deal.

Hailing from Stafford, Jared began his career with West Bromwich Albion, making a handful of first-team appearances. These included a debut in the Premier League against Everton in May 2006.

He signed a contract for another two years; however, Jared was sent on loan to Aberdeen, then Northampton Town, before he was released.

In October 2009, Jared signed for Forest Green Rovers, where he spent five seasons, making more than 160 appearances.

Jared edged closer to the Midlands with his next move, joining Kidderminster Harriers for three seasons. He then joined Macclesfield Town and was to be part of their National League promotion-winning side in 2018 before leaving in 2019.

Hereford was Jared’s next stop, and four seasons at Edgar Street saw him captain the Bulls at Wembley in the 2021 FA Trophy final.

Concluding his Bulls career, Jared joined the Bucks ahead of the 2023/24 season.

Undisclosed Fee For McLean

Wimbledon have paid an undisclosed fee for Ryan McLean whose signing from Hereford was reported earlier this afternoon.

“Ryan is a player who has been on our radar for a while and with competition for his signature we were keen to complete the signing," said Wimbledon's Craig Cope.

“As a football club, we want to look outside the box in our search for talent to push us forward. Ryan’s profile as a young talent with over 80 senior games under his belt fitted our requirements. Ryan is a positive and direct wide player who drives forward on the ball and gets fans off their seats. We are hopeful that we can develop him further over the next couple of seasons so that he’s a real asset for the team.”

After signing for us, Ryan said: “I’ve looked around the stadium and Wimbledon is a club on the up. You can see what the Club wants to do, how they’re integrated into the community, and all of that seems perfect. I spoke to the gaffer: he’s young and wants to get his teams playing on the front foot, so that just seems to suit me down to the ground."

Anaebonam Joins Hereford

Picture From Truro City

Hereford manager Paul Caddis has signed Stanley Anaebonam.

He is viewed as a replacement for Ryan McLean who has moved to AFC Wimbledon.

Anaebonam was a trainee with IK Start back in Norway before heading to England in 2016. He featured for AFC Wulfrunians during the 2017/18 season before linking up with Solihull Moors. Over the next two years he played for Moors Academy and Solihull United in the Midland Football League before linking up with Redditch United in January 2020.

The covid pandemic then disrupted football significantly for over a year, but Anaebonam returned to action with a move in September 2021 to League Of Ireland club Shelbourne (where the league is played in the summer). The First Division side won promotion back to the Irish Premier Division for the 2022 season as champions a month later and he agreed to stay on for the new campaign.

He had trials for Yeovil Town in the summer of 2022 before signing for Truro City ahead of the start of the 2022/23 season, but in October 2022 he returned to the Midlands and joined Hednesford Town where he quickly impressed.

Later he moved to Stourbridge.

“Stan is a player we have kept a close eye on for the past month or so and now we have had the opportunity to bring him into our squad, we are extremely pleased to get him," said Caddis.

“Obviously with Ryan McLean moving on – we all wish him the very best of luck with his transfer to AFC Wimbledon – we have acted quickly, but precisely, in bringing Stan into the club.

“Stan has the physical attributes we were looking for in the wide area and possesses great speed and power which we know will cause opposition problems. He is a down to earth and hard working player, with an eagerness to learn and get better everyday. We are very much looking forward to seeing him in a Bulls’ shirt.

“He is another player who we know supporters will be excited to watch and another player through the door to help us have a positive, energetic and bright season, in what’s a huge rebuild at this great club."

Tyrone Barnett drops down to step three as he signs for new club

Tyrone Barnett, who was released by Hereford this summer, has signed for Leamington.

He made 45 appearances for Hereford last season and was the club’s highest scorer with nine goals.

Leamington, who were relegated from the National League North, said the signing was a coup.

Brakes boss Paul Holleran is the first manager he Barnett worked with at the beginning of his career as a 19 year old back in 2006.

Since then, Barnett has scored goals at every level from the Southern League Midland Division to the EFL Championship.

"Tyrone played for me many many years ago, and has gone on to have a fantastic career," said the manager.

"I thought he was good for Hereford last year, and he was a player that we listed, knowing that we wanted one of our number nines to be a focal point, because we've certainly missed that over the last couple of years for different reasons."

He added: "It was something that I started enquiring about at the start of the summer; seeing whether it was possible, so five or six weeks on, to finally get it over the line and get Tyrone on board - obviously mainly to help us on the pitch at Leamington, but I think he'll be a good asset to us off the pitch as well in his other role at the club.

"It's a really pleasing signing for us. I know the character of the lad - he's a real good kid, and he'll be a real help to some of the younger players in the squad as well; and on top of everything I know that his performance levels are still right up there. He's in great condition, looks after himself, and plays a lot of games every season."

New signing Southern hoping for 'very successful season'

One of Hereford's new singings has said he's hoping for a "very successful season" at Edgar Street.

Right-back Ollie Southern has joined Hereford on a one-year deal, having spent last season at JD Cymru Premier side Bala.

Southern is 21 and before joining Bala in July 2021 had a spell with Curzon Ashton after leaving Crewe Alexandra where he came through the youth ranks.

Tweeting yesterday, Southern said: "I am pleased to announce that I have signed for
Hereford FC.

"I am looking forward to the season ahead as well as working with manager Paul Caddis and the rest of [the] team.

"Hoping we have a very successful season and also can't wait to get started and meet the fans."

He also thanked his former club: "I would like to thank everyone [at] Bala Town FC for the last two years playing in the Welsh Premier League and Europa League football allowing me to gain experience in a tough physical league.

"Wishing the club all the best for the future."

Manager Paul Caddis said when the signing was announced: "He has a presence and size that we need in a tough uncompromising league.

"Ollie has spent the last three years in senior football and for his age has played a lot of games, including appearances in the Champions League qualifiers."

Former Bulls loanee Dara O'Shea linked with Premier League move

Dara O'Shea playing for Hereford in November 2017
Dara O'Shea, who spent time on loan at Hereford from West Brom, is being linked with a move to Premier League club Burnley.

The Dublin-born defender came through the ranks at West Brom, now in the Championship, joining the Bulls on loan in the 2017/18 under manager Peter Beadle.

He then went on loan to Exeter City, before breaking into the Baggies' first team.

Since then, he's made 107 appearances for the club - including 27 when they were in the Premier League - and he could now be returning to the top flight.

He looks set to join Burnley on Thursday if the two clubs agree on a fee and he passes a medical.

A fee could be in the region of £10 million.

The Clarets have just been promoted to the Premier League, whereas a loss of the parachute payments for Albion means they've admitted they will need to sell payers this summer.

Hereford: We will provide updates 'as soon as we are able'

Ryan McLean, right, after scoring against Bromsgrove in the FA Cup in September 2022
Hereford FC chairman Chris Ammonds has said the club will provide news updates as soon as they're able to.

It comes after Ryan McLean seemingly said goodbye to Hereford in a short post on Twitter.

McLean who made 45 appearances for Hereford last season and scored eight goals, said: “Thank you to everyone involved @HerefordFC, all the players, staff and fans, I have loved representing this club each week for the past couple of seasons.”

He joined Hereford on a two-year permanent deal in June 2021, with an extension triggered this summer.

At the beginning of June, Hereford said the club had agreed a fee with a National League club, but McLean was yet to agree personal terms.

Less than an hour after McLean's tweet, club chair Chris Ammonds said: "Rest assured @HerefordFC supporters, we will be providing news updates as soon as we are able to. 👍#COYW"

It's likely Ammonds was sharing the update after McLean's tweet.
