News round-up: former striker makes history, Stormzy takeover and more

Experienced striker Ryan Taylor and midfielder Declan Howe have signed for Alfreton Town.

Taylor most recently played for Grimsby Town in the Football League, while Howe joins from fellow National League North side Darlington.

Grime artist Stormzy and Crystal Palace forward Wilfried Zaha are part of a three-man consortium set to take over AFC Croydon Athletic, a south London side who play in the ninth-tier.

They follow in the footsteps of Hollywood stars Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney who own Wrexham.

Former Hereford striker Rowan Liburd has helped made history for Saint Kitts and Nevis. The Caribbean side have qualified for the group stages of the Gold Cup for the first time.

As well as representing Saint Kitts and Nevis, the 30-year-old currently plays for Kent side Ramsgate in the Isthmian League South East Division at step four.

Manager Phil Parkinson has signed a contract extension with National League side Altrincham because he feels he can take the club into the Football League for the first time.

The manager and his right-hand man Neil Sorvel have agreed to stay put until 2025 having secured promotion from the Northern Premier League as champions in his first season and the winning promotion to the National League via the play-offs in 2020.

Darlington have signed 23-year-old attacker Mitchell Curry on a one-year contract. He started his career at Middlesbrough eight years ago when Darlington manager Alun Armstrong was on the coaching staff, and after loan spells at Harrogate and Inverness, moved to Sunderland in 2020.

He has most recently been playing in the USA.
