Hereford Whets Everyone's Appetite Said Morris

Westfields are eagerly waiting for tomorrow night's County Cup clash at Edgar Street and their chief executive says every player wants to be in the starting line up.

Andrew Morris says the games against Hereford are something for Westfields to look forward to.

"All the players are anxious to play in that game," Morris said, speaking to Matt Healey.

"We've got a 20-man squad, I think 20 players that want to play in the first 11 shirts. They're all keen.

"Hereford whets everyone's appetite, we've had so many good games against Hereford from the days that they were reformed, the Midland League days, and playing on Boxing Day in front of 4,500 that was fantastic.

"We're all eagerly awaiting the tie tomorrow night."

There are a number of former Hereford players who have linked up with 'Fields since leaving Edgar Street, including Carlos Moreira, George Hayes and Jamie Molyneux.

Morris said that Molyneux isn't 100% fit but will be 'leading the attack' against the Bulls tomorrow night.

"Jamie Molyneux is doing well, he's not 100% fit but he's done okay," Morris added.

"He's worked hard and scored some important goals for us. He'll be very much an part of the squad throughout the season and I'm sure leading the attack against Hereford."

Westfields are currently sitting pretty at the top of the Midland Football League, but most of the teams below them have games in hand after 'Fields early exit from the FA Cup.

Despite the blow, Morris praised the squad that the coaching team at Westfields have put together and they've gained a lot of confidence thanks to their good start to the season.

Morris added: "The assembled squad that Andy Bevan, Paul Willets and Sean Edwards have put together, they're keen, young and enthusiastic.

"We've had a bit of luck, a couple of 1-0 away wins at Wulfrunians and South Normanton, but we're gaining confidence as those early wins have paid dividends.

"Unfortunately we got knocked out of the FA Cup but since then we've filled those FA Cup dates with league matches so we've played 10 games and got 23 points on the board which is great.

"It gets in the way, but it gets in the way nicely. I wouldn't want to lose the FA Cup image. The FA Cup to Westfields and clubs of our standard is immense. Going out on that day was very, very disappointing. We've bounced back, we went out 6-1 at Romulus that day, but beat them 4-1 last Monday in the league.

"It did give us a kick up the backside and it's done us the world of good in a way, but I wouldn't ever want to go out of FA Cup early in a quick time like we did this year."

Tickets for tomorrow night's game at Edgar Street will go on sale from the match day ticket office from 6pm.

Only the Merton Stand will be open and Westfields fans are advised to sit together in Block D but the game isn't segregated.

Tickets are £5 for adults and £1 for U16s.
