Dagenham & Redbridge 0-9 Hereford United

What's On This Week At Hereford FC

Another busy week for Hereford FC is in prospect.

Tomorrow over at the Courtyard sees the premier of 'The Goal' which follows six ball boys at Hereford United's world famous victory over Newcastle United in the FA Cup in 1972.

On Tuesday, the first team are away at Chester City.

It's also thought that the name of the new manager or head coach could be made public on Tuesday.

At Edgar Street on Thursday evening the Under 18's have a FA Youth Cup tie against Malvern. The youngsters won their previous tie 11-3.

Then on Saturday it's back to the FA Cup for the senior side. Welling are the visitors. Tickets for this game will be available from Wednesday onwards.

A small selection of photos from around Edgar Street this afternoon.

New Manager May Be Announced Early Next Week

BN understands that the name of the new manager of Hereford FC may be announced before the Chester game on Tuesday.

It's thought that a meeting of directors was held this evening with head of football Tim Harris to discuss matters.

Around six candidates are believed to have been interviewed.

"It's very difficult, you don't want to put timescales on it," Harris told BBC Hereford and Worcester after Wednesday's FA Cup replay.

"We're not a million miles away but it's important that I put them in front of the board and I've recommended a few of the people who have applied for it."

Pictures From Edgar Street This Afternoon

Not too many match action pictures from this afternoon's game at Edgar Street, probably not surprising given Hereford were well beaten by Spennymoor.

Rhys Davies Loaned To Nuneaton

Rhys Davies, son of Hereford FC temporary coach Gareth, has joined Nuneaton on loan from Shrewsbury Town for the remainder of the season.

His father told BN about the news after last Wednesday's FA Cup replay at Torquay.

Rhys played for several of the youth teams at Hereford before joining Shrewsbury as a scholar.

He made his debut for Nuneaton this afternoon and was on the winning side as they defeated FC United 1-0.

Report: Hereford 0 - Spennymoor Town 3

Referee Amy Fearn Sent Off Callum Sainty In The First Half
Five defeats in your last six league games isn't a good stat to have associated with your club, but that's the reality now for Hereford after they were beaten 3-0 by Spennymoor Town at Edgar Street this afternoon.

Goals from Mark Anderson and Glen Taylor saw the visitors with a two goal lead by half time, and the sending off of Callum Sainty after 23 minutes made things harder for Hereford. After controlling the second half, goal number three was added three minutes from time by Adam Boyes.

After their comeback against Truro City on Wednesday evening, Hereford's interim managers made just two changes to the starting XI. Defenders Tom Harrison and Ryan Green dropped to the bench to make way for Eliot Richards, who returned from suspension, and captain Jordan Cullinane-Liburd.

Eliot Richards Back In The Starting Eleven
Straight from kick off the Bulls bombarded Spennymoor's defence after Harry White earned his side a corner within the first minute. Despite the pressure, Hereford never really tested their visitors.

Keiran Thomas was as reliable as ever when Shaun Tuton found himself clear after a quick break from Spennymoor, but his run was brought to a stop with a sliding challenge from Thomas.

Harry White
There wasn't much in the game for the majority of the first 20 minutes with both sides having an equal share of the possession, but then the Moors took the lead with a simple routine.

In the 21st minute a free kick from goalkeeper Matthew Gould was launched up field towards Glen Taylor, he rose to head the ball down to the feet of Mark Anderson who was left to firing across Martin Horsell to break the deadlock.

If going a goal down wasn't bad enough, Hereford were then also a man down two minutes later. Callum Sainty won possession in his own half, albeit with a strong challenge on Shaun Tuton, but referee Amy Fearn took her time in deciding her verdict on Sainty's which turned out to be a straight red card.

With the home fans still reeling at the decision, when Jamie Bird was a victim of a late challenge from goalscorer Mark Anderson, there were calls for a sending off from the crowd. In truth, the referee got the decision right as she dished out a yellow.

Just before half time another route one ball saw Spennymoor double their lead. A long ball forward fell nicely to Glen Taylor, and after a quick one-two with Stehpan Brogan slotted the ball neatly past Horsell.

Looking at the half time score it wasn't really a fair reflection with two shots and two goals from the hosts, but they had won four out of their last six games before this afternoon.

HT: Hereford 0 - Spennymoor Town 2

The Bulls made two changes at the break, presumably to try and inject some creativity into the side that has not only be lacking today, but for the past few weeks. On came Jordan Lam and Jennison Myrie-Williams for Lewis Hall and Eliot Richards.

Jordan Lam
A corner just a minute after the restart for Hereford fell for Jamie Bird, but he miss hit his volley as he tried to fire home.

Like the beginning of the first half there was very little in the game, but some smart defending from Hereford prevented Spennymoor from extending their lead. Shaun Tuton found Mark Anderson on the edge of the six-yard box, but he was denied a shooting opportunity after a good tackle from Jordan Cullinane Liburd. Anthony Johnson was first to reach the loose ball, but his shot towards the right-hand side of the net was within reach of Horsell who pushed it wide.

The one player in need of a goal more than most is Harry White, and he came ever so close with 68 minutes on the clock. He controlled Mike McGrath's cross well, but his shot on the turn took a deflection and sailed harmlessly wide for a fruitless corner.

The striker was cautioned three minutes later after a shove on Shane Henry after doing his best to chase down a lost cause.

As the half wore on, Spennymoor looked comfortable on the ball and Hereford saw very little of possession. Saying that, the Moors rarely threatened Martin Horsell and it was only when they had a free kick on the edge of the box when Horsell was called into action, but the ball sailed straight into his arms.

The game was put to bed three minutes from time as Adam Boyes made it 3-0. After Andrew Johnson made a great run down the wing, he crossed the ball neatly into the box for Boyes to tap home.

Me, Yes You - Johnson Was Given A Yellow For Bringing Down Keiran Thomas
It could've then been four before the referee blew for full time, but thankfully for Hereford Glen Taylor was offside. A slip for Cullinane-Liburd meant Taylor was free, but the linesman's flag went up.

Reaction From Spennymoor Manager Jason Ainsley

No Positives Whatsoever From Today's Game Said Green

Interim player-manager Ryan Green said there were no positives to take away from today's 3-0 defeat against Spennymoor Town.

Green said Hereford had been killed off within the opening 25 minutes after going a goal and a man down after Callum Sanity was shown a straight red for a bad challenge.

"A bad day at the office, to go one-nil down to an individual error and then going down to ten men just killed us off to be honest," said Green."

"We weren't at the races today and there's no excuses.

"We had a bright start against Ashton, went one-nil down, we crumbled and it's happened again today. The red card didn't help but it's been a bad day.

"He (Callum Sainty) got the ball but he's shown his studs. In this day and age you can't do it, four or five years ago yes and you'd applaud it, but nowadays you can't get away with it. We'll have to have another look at it because we were on the other side of the pitch.

Spennymoor deserved the win and were well-organised. In the second half in particular they controlled possession exceptionally well.

"I don't think they (Spennymoor) broke sweat to be honest, they were organised and good on the counter-attack," Green added.

"They were fully deserved winners. Their number nine was a good player, good in the air, good finisher. They ran non-stop all over, they looked comfortable.

"Gareth's had a quick chat with the players then, but positives? None at all if I'm being totally honest, no positives whatsoever. We've got to move on to Tuesday and get everyone together.

"I don't know if there'll be a new manager in, that's not down to me it's down to the board. We've got to rally the troops and get going.

"It's lucky for us now that we don't have to wait as week for a game. We've got a game on Tuesday to put it right and then it won't be a bad week, three points from two games."

As for Green, he was only on the bench today as he still hasn't recovered from his previous injury and has now hurt his neck after playing 120 minutes against Truro City on Wednesday.

Green said: "I shouldn't have played Wednesday night but we were short of numbers, I stepped in and played 120 minutes.

"I've hurt my neck a little bit, I'm getting on a bit so I've got to look after myself, but Jordan was fit so he came straight back in but hopefully I'll be avaiable for Tuesday at Chester."

Ten Man Hereford Fall To Another League Defeat

It's now just one point in the last six league games for Hereford after they were comfortable beat 3-0 by Spennymoor Town at Edgar Street this afternoon.

The visitors had a two goal lead going into the break thanks to Mark Anderson and Glen Taylor, but the hosts played the majority of the game with ten men after Callum Sainty was sent off after 23 minutes for a late challenge.

Goal number three was added three minutes from full time by Adam Boyes to round off the scoring for a clinical Spennymoor side.

More later.

HUST Update

This From HUST:

Representatives of the Trust Board met with our three nominated Directors this week and we had hoped to provide a full and definitive statement on recent events.

It has become clear that the Trust is not able to advise fully and publicly on this topic. Confidentiality concerns around employment related matters are one contributing factor. Equally, the club’s current Articles of Association do not carry the clauses to allow our nominated directors to share information more easily with the Trust. These rules, which govern the Club, have been in place since the formation of Hereford FC. Recent events have been the first tangible test of these rules and have clearly shown that they could be improved.

The Trust Board has shared Member frustrations about the lack of information available to share and will work with its nominated Directors, to seek solutions to improve the flow of information from the Club to the Trust and its members, who represent the largest single shareholder in the Club.

In the meantime, we would like to reassure our members that we have passed all views expressed by our members to our nominated Club Directors. In turn, they have provided assurances that they fully believe that recent decisions, while extremely difficult, have been taken in the best long-term interests of the Club and its supporters. HUST’s Nominated Club Directors are not directly instructed by the Trust or its members but rather their roles, as eloquently described by Mick Merrick at the Fans Forum, are comparable to that of an MP. They are nominated by the Trust to represent the views of the membership and can be removed by the Trust if it feels they are failing in this duty. However, the decisions of nominated Directors, whilst in office, are their own. The Trust Board have full faith and confidence in our three nominated Directors and encourage members to support the new football Management Team, once appointed.

We would like to thank all members for their continued support and ask for patience as we work towards achieving appropriate change. We would encourage all Trust members to get involved with the Trust as actively as possible to help us achieve these goals. Our AGM is on 11 October at 7pm in Radford’s.

Leaving Hereford Came As A 'Huge Shock' Said Beadle

Peter Beadle, the former Hereford United and Hereford FC manager, has given a long interview to the Non-League Programme as noted earlier today on BN.

Below is some of what Beadle said.

First he was asked if he had a chance to realise how 'amazing' his time with Hereford FC was.

"I'd never won a championship before and I was given the opportunity with this new club to finish the job that we had started.

"We've enjoyed every moment of it on that journey.

"It's been two weeks yesterday (since Beadle was sacked) and it feels like a month already. But the house is looking tidy and the garden looks great.

"We're ready now to get back into it and stuck into a new challenge hopefully."

Beadle was asked about his sacking.

"It came as a huge shock to be fair, we didn't see it really coming.

"We knew we had been in a tough run of games, the likes of Chorley, Bradford, York and Brackley, teams that had been very successful over the past couple of years.

"We knew when we had come out of that run of games we would either be happy with what we had achieved or knew what may be needed to kick-on.

"We only came away with one point from those games so we knew what we needed to kick on and try and close the gap between us and them.

"We never felt under pressure and never saw it coming. It did come as a huge shock. It's disappointing that we didn't have that chance to carry on.

"The way it was done was hugely disappointing as well, the fact that it was done over the phone, it was disappointing. That probably hurts more than anything after everything that we had done and what we had achieved.

"But it is what it is and now we've had enough of a rest, we ready to get back into it when an opportunity arises.

"In the beginning the club set a target of two promotions in three years. We were very fortunate that we hit the ground running after the first five games in the first season. After that we went on an incredible run.

"We were ahead of schedule."
