News Round-Up


Kidderminster chairman Mark Serrell says their budget has increased slightly on last season, but they are 'not in the top five or six' when it comes to spending though he considers their budget to be in the next half dozen. Barnet have signed Romanian defender Claudiu Vilcu for the coming season. The central defender started his career as a striker, has has played mostly in the lower tiers in Romania and Moldova.

Newport's bench is being investigated after several Brighton fans lodged complaints about comments coming from the Exiles' staff during their game on Tuesday night. Exiles striker Aaron O'Connor has also reported being racially abused and is expected to lodge a complaint. Grimsby have appointed two Mariners Trust members to their Board of Directors. The Trust met the club's criteria of raising £30,000 a season and will see Dave Roberts and Jon Wood act on their behalf. 

Hyde have signed former Morecambe striker Danny Carlton for the coming season, while Alex Brown and Tunji Moses have agreed new deals with the club. Carlton, 29, missed most of last season through injury, playing just four times before a cruciate ligament injury ruled him out. The Manchester club has also had a boardroom reshuffle, with Chairman Tahir Khan stepping down. He is replaced by Vice Chairman Joe Kitchen, who is also the local mayor.

Southport have named veteran midfielder Jamie Milligan as their new captain. The 33 year old is one of ten new signings that new manager Alan Wright has brought in. Aldershot have named ex-Bull Craig Stanley as their new captain. The 30 year old made just five appearances for the club due to injury last season.

Lincoln have resigned keeper David Preece on a one year deal. The 31 year old left the Imps at the end of last season to play in Iceland, but now returns as player/coach. Dartford have signed former Southend midfielder Alex Woodyard for the coming season. The 20 year old ended last season on loan at Braintree after making 15 appearances for the Shrimpers in four seasons.

Macclesfield have signed midfielder Danny Rowe for the coming season. The 23 year old spent last season with Barrow after coming through the ranks at Stockport.
