News Round-Up


Former Bulls striker Stuart Fleetwood was a trialist for Alfreton as they lost 6-0 at home to Walsall last night (edit - he claims it wasn't a trial). James McQuilkin again trialled for the Saddlers in the game. Luton have allowed striker Scott Rendell to trial with Torquay, and defender Lathaniel Rowe-Turner to trial at Burton. The duo were transfer listed nearly two months ago.

Aldershot's Administrator will meet with Conference chiefs on Thursday to seek ratification of their takeover. The club have confirmed that former Shots player Darren Barnard will take over as youth coach. Hyde have signed teenage defender Adam Thurston for the coming season. The 18 year old was released by Preston earlier in the summer.

Grimsby are trialling defender Paul Bignot. The 27 year old was released by Blackpool earlier in the summer after two years there without an appearance after a surprise move from Newport. Scunthorpe are trialling former Bulls loanee Sam Winnall after he had an unsuccessful trial with Crewe. The 22 year old scored nine times in 35 games out on loan over the last few years, but made only one senior appearance for Wolves in three years.

Gateshead have signed midfielder Josh Walker for the coming season. The Newcastle born 24 year old had four years as a pro with Middlesboro before spells at Watford and Scunthorpe. Former Bulls loanee Richard Peniket has signed for Tamworth for the coming season. The 20 year old scored only once in 17 games on loan in the Conference for Kidderminster and Telford after a seven game blank spell for the Bulls in League Two.

Former Bulls defender Janos Kovacs is training with Hungarian champions FC Gyori. He is reported to have rejected an offer from an unnamed SPL side to return to his homeland.
