Westfields Football Club have released the following press statement about the move of Craig Jones to Hereford United.
Westfields’ free-scoring 23 year old midfield player Craig Jones will today complete signing for Hereford United for the remainder of the current season.
Jones
will complete “non contract” forms today (deadline day today for
Conference) and will train with Hereford United following talks with
manager Martin Foyle.
“Martin
Foyle has discussed the move with Sean Edwards (Westfields manager) and Andy Morris (Westfields chairman)
and agreement has been made that Craig will be a Hereford United player
now until the end of the season which is 20th April.
Craig will then be able to return to Westfields for our last 3 league
games after that date and will also be eligible for our MFA League Cup
final on 7th May at Walsall.
Since
Craig joined us 3 seasons ago he has improved under the guidance of
Sean Edwards and played week-in week-out. He is now a much improved
player to when he arrived at Westfields after his earlier days at
Hereford United where his first team games were limited.
"It’s
a great move for Craig. He is a local lad, a tremendous left-footed
player who scores spectacular goals and we all wish him well in the next
month. We believe he can handle the step up to Conference. Let’s hope
he can earn himself a contract for next season too” said Andy Morris.
Martin
Foyle is keen to form links with Westfields and he has stated that he
may be able to recommend good youth or young non contract players to
Westfields during the season, which will help both clubs in the future.Update 2pm: Hereford United manager Martin Foyle has confirmed the signing.
"I've bought him in now until the end of the season to give him a chance to prove himself in competitive football," Foyle told the OS.
"He won't just be sat on the bench, I don't want to just look at him in training, I need to see how he can compete in this league.
"Some people say he didn't get a decent chance last time around, now it's his chance to prove some people wrong.
"We've had a look at him in training, he's got a good left foot, a good footballing brain, it's up to him now to show he's good enough."
