Special Cup Edition Of The Bull

This weekend's match programme against Shrewsbury Town is one not be missed. Make sure you get yours.

Saturday’s edition of official matchday programme the bull, for Hereford’s United’s home tie against Shrewsbury Town is an FA Cup special, packed with cup-related content and interviews with players connected to both clubs.

Former United supremo and current Shrews boss Graham Turner recalls the crucial FA Cup ties against Dover Athletic and Wrexham in 2001 that helped keep the administrators away from Edgar Street with the Bulls on their knees financially.

Goalkeeper Matt Baker, who was between the sticks at the time, also evokes memories of that crucial cup run some 11 years ago, with the shot-stopper rising to prominence after making a string of saves during the televised First Round victory over Wrexham.

As ever, the programme features a detailed dossier on the opponents and their season so far, with in-depth profiles on both the players and management of Shrewsbury. And it takes a look back to the 2006/07 season, when the sides met on five occasions in three different competitions following the Bulls’ return to the Football League.

Former Hereford and Shrewsbury defender Andy Tretton is now a Commericial Sales Executive for the Shrews, and he chats to the bull about his controversial dismissal in the 2003/04 Conference play-off semi-final second leg against Aldershot Town, which went a long way to preventing what would have been a tantalising meeting between Hereford and Shrewsbury in the play-off final at Stoke City’s Britannia Stadium.

While Rob Purdie, Hereford’s reining player of the season, opens up about why he chose to make the move up the A49 to the Greenhous Meadow over the summer, and reveals the biggest regret of his Bulls career – something that still haunts him now.

the bull completes its array of interviews by talking to the Shrews’ young midfielder Aaron Wildig, who is Hereford born and bred but has never featured for the Bulls.

David Keyte’s chairman’s challenge is an FA Cup special and missing men and career paths will test your knowledge about both Hereford and Shrewsbury, while club historian Ron Parrott digs out programmes from previous FA Cup First Round ties.

All this and more, in this weekend’s FA Cup special edition of the bull – at the usual price of £2.50. Grab your copy and help make some valuable money for the Bulls at a time when they really need it!
