Morecambe boss Jim Bentley has pleaded with fans to turn out tomorrow and support his sparsely backed side.
Recent gates have slumped, with the former central defender calling on the crowds to return. They opened the season with 1,800 against Barnet, and have only managed an average of 2,100 thanks to racking up over 4,000 for the visit of Bradford. Chairman Peter McGuigan has previously said he was looking for an average gate of 2,700.
He told the Morecambe Visitor “I’m the first to admit we were shocking against Dagenham and our home form hasn’t been as good as we would have liked but I think people have forgotten that we were second favourites to be relegated this season.
"We got off to a flying start and we are still among the top 10 scorers in the league and have one of the top 10 defences as well and are sitting pretty comfortably in mid-table, which I think is a pretty decent showing so far.”
Bentley's side will be without long-term injury victims Andy Fleming, Laurence Wilson and Nick Fenton, while his resources were stretched for Tuesday's win over Cheltenham when Stewart Drummond and ex-Bull Jason Price were ruled out with groin and thigh injuries respectively and Jack Redshaw was also missing through illness. Of that trio, only Redshaw is expected to take any part in Saturday's game.
