News Round-Up

Stockport have appointed Jim Gannon as their new Director of Football. He will be responsible for team selection and transfers, and will be assisted by existing Assistant Manager Willie McStay. Two members of the supporters group that Gannon met at the weekend will also join the club's board. Since leaving Stockport in 2009, Gannon has had short spells in charge at Peterboro, Motherwell, and Port Vale.

The cost of the FA Cup failure on Saturday is compounded with the news today that Yeovil's trip to Fleetwood in Round Two has been picked for live TV coverage, adding £72,000 to the Glovers' funds. Other televised games see AFC Totton face Bristol Rovers, and Sutton entertaining Notts County. Cheltenham have released youngsters Ethan Moore and Kyle Haines by mutual consent.

Crawley midfielder Hope Akpan has been fined £1,200 for the Twitter comments that appeared on his account. He blamed the homophobic comments on a third party, and in accepting the charge he blasted the unknown person for failing to stand up and admit their actions. Big spending Neath, where Sam Gwynne currently plays, have sacked manager Terry Boyle and placed midfielder Kristian O'Leary in charge.

Northampton chairman Dennis Cardoza says the club have no immediate plans for a replacement to boss Gary Johnson, despite press speculation that Macclesfield boss Gary Simpson is a target. Wrexham boss Andy Morrell says his club's protracted takeover means he is unable to sign any new players to cover for injuries as he doesn't know who to ask for funds. The current owners and Supporters Trust have presented a new proposal to the FA and are awaiting acceptance.

Shrewsbury have been dealt another injury blow with defender Jermaine Grandison being sidelined for six weeks after tearing a hamstring in their FA Cup match with Newport at the weekend. Port Vale have announced that their deal with Blue Sky Investments to put a total of £8million into the club has hit 'contractual issues'. The first £150,000 installment has been delayed with the official club announcement not detailing why.

Kettering have confirmed they have transfer listed their entire squad "due to current financial constraints and recent results". They missed out on FA Cup prize money after losing to lower graded Sutton, and admitted failing to pay the full wage bill yesterday. Former Bulls striker Moses Ashikodi has taken to Twitter, claiming that every player is available on a free transfer apart from himself.
