Return to Past for Pitman

Going to Swindon tomorrow is like a return to his past for Hereford United manager Jamie Pitman. He was born in near-by Trowbridge and joined the Swindon youth set-up when John Trollope was in charge.

"I have many good memories from my time at Swindon and I had a good education from John Trollope. Some of things I learned from him I still use now in management," Pitman told the Swindon Advertiser.

"I progressed through the youth team and into the first team, playing a couple of games, but a new regime came in and eventually I moved on."

As regards the difference in the two clubs Pitman highlighted the injury problems in his squad and the fact two of his players are on international duties.

"Any comparison to Swindon doesn’t even scratch the surface. The problem we have is injuries, while we also have some lads on international duty.

"My goalkeeper coach Russell Hoult is going to have to play because David Cornell is on international duty so envious is a word I would use of Di Canio.

"I have never been in a situation at a football club where I have around 30 players competing for positions."
