Reading welcome Manset

Reading manager Brian McDermott has welcomed the signing of Mathieu Manset from Hereford United.

The signing is initially a loan deal so as Manset can play for Reading in their home game against Hull City tomorrow. The deal will be made permanent on Monday. Manset will wear squad number 45.

"Mathieu first came to our attention in May 2008 when we saw him playing for Le Havre against Lyon and we've tracked his development ever since," manager Brian McDermott told the Reading OS.

"In the last few months his goalscoring record speaks for itself, there was lots of interest from Championship clubs and once again we're very lucky, pleased and excited he has joined us."

Meanwhile Manset says he is 'so happy' to have joined Reading.

"I feel good. I'm so glad to be here," he told the Reading OS.

"Everything here is great. It's big ground, a big stadium, a big team. I'm just so happy.

"This is a big opportunity for me. I am young, so I need to take my chance. This move could be a big thing.

"I'm fit and ready for this game. I can't wait for tomorrow afternoon. I'm excited to play at this level.

"Playing in front of 20,000 people is not the same as what I have been used to at Hereford. So I am excited. It's amazing."

Finally Hereford United vice-chairman Tim Russon has given some deatils about the transfer.

"There is a downpayment with add-ons," Russon told the Hereford Times.

"If that all comes to fruition then it will beat the club's record transfer fee for Darren Peacock." (£440,000)
