Encouraging Interview With Tim Russon

Hereford United's new vice-chairman, Tim Russon, has given a very encouraging interview to the OS in which he expresses optimism that the club will attract more support this coming season.

He also said that it was hoped to announce who the new manager would be next week.

"We're still waiting to make an appointment. We've been surprised and flattered by how many managers have thrown their hat into the ring, ex-players and coaches as well.

"It's taken longer than we thought because of holidays and the World Cup - we've had calls from South Africa. We've had to extend the search.

"Hopefully next week we will have a new manager here.

"We're looking for somebody who will give us that vital boost we need, somebody who will be able to do a great job for Hereford United but it has got to be the right deal."

Russon wasn't able to give any firm news about any more players resigning for the Bulls but he did say that the club had been offered players by other clubs.

"As soon as the manager comes in he will be flat out to make sure that we get the good players, the right players for next season."

Russon then suggested it would soon be time for supporters to consider purchasing a season ticket.

"The season is bubbling up, next week we hope to have a new manager, in the next few days there will be new players coming in so now is the time to show your support for Hereford and go out and buy a season ticket.

"We would really like to get more and more people buying season tickets because then we can build on a base of support.

"And the more people we can get in, the more noise they make, the more atmosphere they create and that is better for the team."

Russon and chairman David Keyte has now been at Edgar Street for two weeks.

"We've been talking to people, listening to people, hearing their ideas.

"Everybody has wanted to come and say hello to us. We've got lots of meetings with people who do business with the club.

"Over the next few weeks we'll be looking at sponsorship packages and hospitality packages.

"We hope to be able to offer people locally a bit more for their money."

The planning for the new Blackfriars End of Edgar Street has not yet been passed by the council.

"That's one of the discussions we've been having. There are a few finer details to put to the plans and we've got to talk to the council.

"That will happen at some stage."
