Local Firms Urged To Tender For Blackfriars Work

Local firms are being urged to tender for at least some of the work involved with the redevelopment of the Blackfriars End of Hereford United's Edgar Street stadium according to chairman Graham Turner.

"We've reached the stage where we are going out for tender. We are probably going to split the tenders into two with the first one being for the demolition of the existing structure," Turner told the Official Site.

"What we would like to do if it is at all possible is keep some of the work local. If there are any firms out there who want to tender for demolishing the existing structure and getting everything level - it is quite a big project, there is a lot of work involved.

"We'd love to keep a lot of the work here amongst local people.

"As soon as those tenders come in, we are hoping that will co-inside with news from the Football Foundation.

"We hope not long after that planning consent will eventually be forthcoming.

"So it is moving on."
