"Mullin was a handful" – Rose

Speaking after the Morecambe game, Bulls defender Richard Rose said that marking Paul Mullin had been harder work than having to keep tabs on Jermaine Beckford of Leeds.

“For a guy of his age, his work rate was incredible. He’s just so big and solid and is always on the move. He doesn’t give you a moments peace and is very strong in the air.”

Meanwhile, Shrimpers boss Sammy McIlroy was quick to praise the efforts of Mathieu Manset. He's a big strong boy and caused us some problems when he came on. I thought our defenders coped with him but he was certainly a threat.”

Gavin McCallum said his withdrawal was down to slight medial ligament damage. “I’ve had it before and it was aggravated when I took a bang from behind. I’m hoping to be OK for Saturday.”
