The Bulls entertain Chesterfield in a League Two match at Edgar Street on Saturday looking to defend a four match unbeaten run.
The two sides meet again after one season apart, with the home side winning on both occasions in the 2007/8 season. The Bulls won at Edgar Street 2-0 in February 2008 thanks to Sherjill MacDonald and Gary Hooper, while Chesterfield won a televised tie at Saltergate 4-0 just a month earlier with those two strikers yet to arrive at Edgar Street. The home win for the Bulls was their first against Chesterfield in eight attempts, halting a seven game losing streak in the League stretching back to 1992.
The Bulls' four match unbeaten run comes against four of the current top six sides, proving many commentators views that this division is wide open. The Bulls are just three wins short of the play-offs and, with just one home loss all season from nine competitive matches, they can feel relatively confident that further points can be gained on Saturday. Jonny Godsmark should be back in training with the Bulls after six weeks away, but is unlikely to be fully match fit, while fellow winger Mark Marshall is more likely to start in the last game of his one month spell.
Chesterfield's season so far mirrors that of the Bulls in that their home form is substantially better than away. Sixteen points from eighteen at home is contrasted by just four away from Saltergate, but they gained their first away win of the season at Bournemouth on Saturday. One player in their squad to have already played the Bulls is winger Wade Small, who lost at Edgar Street with Charlton before signing for the Spireites. Veteran striker Jack Lester has three goals so far this season, with defender Jamie Lowry top scorer with five in the League.
